“All of us thought the great value of the guides was to focus in on specific objectives, which then meant, we interacted with pupils on the tasks..........The theme pages are useful, particularly where they could fit into topic titles.” Fiona Byrne, Old Oak Primary School, London

Little Monster at School - School Edition provides young children with many experiences which relate to a typical day at school. Have your pupils had similar experiences? Which classes do they look forward to? Which do they have anxieties about? As well as the outstanding value for English in inviting children to read in an exciting multimedia environment, there are many other subject areas of the National Curriculum and Curriculum Guidelines covered in the activities and worksheets.
In school, Little Monster will get to learn about fun stuff like the alphabet, maths and geography (where other monsters live, naturally). There is plenty to do in this School Edition, especially developing skills such as word recognition, reading comprehension and computer literacy.
The activities are not confined to the use of the computer so that other groups or the whole class can be involved with Little Monster at School. The theme of Friendship is suggested in the Guide, but the School Edition is versatile for other topics such as Ourselves and Mini-beasts. Here are some examples of activities:
Mini-beasts in the garden
A hands-on activity demonstrates one relationship between plants and insects.
How do you get to school?
This activity looks at transport, both to and from school, and in a wider context: how do children in other parts of the world travel?
